Hey! I'm Rohit Draksha. I like to build stuff and learn new things.

Rohit Draksha

I'm a software engineer based in Dallas, Texas, with five years of experience building products at the intersection of technology and customer needs. Since graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, I've built my career around a customer-centric approach to solving problems. My professional journey began at AWS as a Cloud Support Associate, where I worked directly with customers to resolve bottlenecks, troubleshoot and configure cloud systems, and improve team efficiency.

From there, I joined Paycom as a Software Engineer, building durable, highly available software that ensured accurate and reliable payments for customers, a role that deepened my appreciation for the engineering rigor behind products people depend on. Today, I'm a Software Developer at an early-stage startup building a trading platform for Indian stock market traders. I work directly with traders to ship features, automate trading workflows, and provide backtesting tools that measurably improve their productivity, shaping both what we build and how we build it.

Outside of work, you'll find me hosting game nights, playing trivia, or on the pickleball court. Want the full details? Check out my resume - and if you'd like to connect, reach out at draksha.rohit@gmail.com.

Professional Experience
Software Engineer Jul 2025 – Present
Yohum — fintech startup, F&O derivatives trading platform
  • Software engineer on a real-time futures & options trading platform with 24/7 reliability requirements; designed and shipped its core live price monitoring and strategy backtesting services on a Python (FastAPI) backend with a React frontend.
  • Design and operate REST APIs for live market data, account data, and order workflows; built an OAuth 2.0 integration with Zerodha to securely authenticate users and stream live market and account data.
  • Leverage Claude Code and Cursor in day-to-day development — generating unit test suites, surfacing potential performance bottlenecks, and debugging backend code — to ship faster as a small team.
  • Own cloud infrastructure and deployments end-to-end: run the production stack on AWS EC2 and S3 and manage the PostgreSQL store for historical market data, tuning queries for backtesting workloads.
  • Work directly with traders to evaluate platform strengths and gaps, shipping rapid, real-time improvements to production.
Software Developer IV — Team Captain Jun 2024 – Jul 2025
Paycom — Back Office Software Solutions (BOSS) team Dallas, TX
  • Led the ground-up redesign of the bank account management system serving all 30,000 of Paycom's clients globally; rearchitected the database for one-to-many account-purpose mapping, eliminating a legacy workaround that required spinning up sub-clients.
  • Drove the migration of core payroll services out of a legacy PHP monolith into modern C# backend services with a React frontend, improving performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Coordinated delivery across 3 teams (Payroll, Tax, BOSS; 6 engineers), running product–dev meetings, resolving PRD discrepancies, and driving the project to a successful production deployment.
  • As team captain, reviewed ~40 pull requests, led clean-code sessions, and mentored a junior engineer through onboarding.
Software Developer III May 2023 – Jun 2024
Paycom — Back Office Software Solutions (BOSS) team Dallas, TX
  • Took ownership of Client Settings, a legacy, defect-prone domain governing direct deposit, wire, and bank account configuration that drives payroll, ACH, and NACHA file generation — correctness-critical money-movement infrastructure.
  • Independently redesigned and rebuilt the Client Settings page, migrating it from legacy PHP to C# and React.
  • Built client configuration pages for international expansion into Mexico, Ireland, and the UK, implementing CLABE number and SWIFT code validations.
  • Promoted to Software Developer IV within 13 months in recognition of ownership and delivery.
Cloud Support Associate Jul 2021 – May 2023
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Helped thousands of AWS customers troubleshoot cloud configurations, analyze logs, and resolve critical performance and scalability bottlenecks in production systems, with occasional hands-on code support.
  • Earned multiple team accolades for rapid customer resolution and consistently well-documented support.
